4. The Gerenuk

Also known as the Waller’s gazelle, the gerenuk is a long necked species of antelope, native to the shrubland and desert of the Horn of Africa and the African Great Lakes. Their name is taken from the Somali word ‘garanuug’, which means ‘giraffe-necked’.
