9. The Wonder Years

Why It’s Perfect…

[adsense-inline]The Wonder Years was an American comedy-drama, which aired on ABC from 1988 to 1993 and is set between 1968 and 1973 (each series set exactly 20 years before the present year). The central character is Kevin and the show is based around him reminiscing about ‘The Wonder Years’ of his childhood.
In the final few minutes of The Wonder Years, as we watch a 4th July parade on screen, a voice over from Kevin begins, which tells us what happens in the following years to each of the main characters. Like ‘Six Feet Under’ it gives us that sense of closure and resolution.
Right at the end a young boy can be heard asking his dad to come out and play during a break in the final narration. Kevin’s narrative responds, “I’ll be right there” as the episode closes.
