Detroit Resident Walks 21 Miles A Day To Work & Back

For the past 10 years, 56 year old James Robertson of Detroit has walked an astounding 21 miles to work and back every single day. Even more staggering is the fact that James has a perfect attendance record and has not missed a single day’s work in a decade.

Come rain, hail, sleet or shine James turns up every day at his job with Schain Mold & Engineering. His job pays $10.55 an hour, well above Michigan’s minimum wage of $8.15 an hour but not enough for him to buy, maintain and insure a car in Detroit.

James’ walk to work each day takes him 4 hours and when he finishes his daily shift at 10pm he has to go through it all again in reverse. The map below shows James’ daily routine.
I’ll never complain about my daily commute again. You can find out more about James’ incredible story on the original story from the Detroit Free Press here.
