Sports Illustrated have a track record for swimsuit issues that cause debate – last year they put Barbie on the cover – and this year is no exception. With the hashtag #CurvesInBikinis this year will be the first time the magazine has featured a Plus Size model in the publication, namely size 16 Ashley Graham.
The 26 year old from Lincoln, Nebrasca was unveiled today as the face (and body) of swimwear brand swimsuitsforall, and the campaign will feature in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition.
Here is a first glimpse at the ad campaign which will feature in the magazine.
Speaking of her role in the ground breaking campaign Ashley Graham said ‘I know my curves are sexy and I want everyone else to know that theirs are too.’
When asked about why they chose to use Heather in their campaign, a spokesman for swimsuits for all said ‘Today there is growing enthusiasm for the curvy, natural body type. Celebrities are flaunting their curves, major fashion labels are signing curvy models alongside thinner counterparts and Instagram is awash in images of confident curvy women.’
