You may not have heard of the anglerfish and you could be forgiven for that. They are an elusive beast, residing in the deepest, darkest corners of the ocean. In fact, it’s so dark down there that it’s been pretty much impossible to get any usable footage of the anglerfish until now.
For the first time ever, a remotely operated submarine (operated by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute) has successfully captured the anglerfish on film in it’s natural environment. The amazing footage is above, but be warned it’s a decidedly gruesome beast!
