Rainworks are a special kind of street art that stay hidden until they get wet. Standing in the rain can get you down, so the idea is that these nifty pieces of artwork, which are only visible when it rains, will help to lift the spirits of those caught in a shower.
The man behind these pieces of art is Peregrine Church and he uses special eco-friendly water repellent sprays to create the designs, which can last for months before degrading naturally.
Peregrine lives in the perfect city for artwork that only shows when it is wet – rainy Seattle. His artwork includes many designs from geeky and gaming references to playful kid’s games and has been a popular addition to the Seattle sidewalks.
